“The Walking Dead” spin-off won’t hit the airwaves for a while yet, but at New York Comic Con on Saturday, “The Daryl Dixon Show” was already in full effect.

In a panel moderated by “Community” star (and self-proclaimed “Walking Dead” super-fan) Yvette Nicole Brown, cast members Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira and Chad Coleman teased the season ahead, which resumes several months after the bloody confrontation between the prison population and the Governor’s (David Morrissey) forces.

The actors were joined by comic book author Robert Kirkman, newly appointed show runner Scott Gimple and executive producers Greg Nicotero (also the series special effects makeup guru), Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert. But all anyone wanted to know about, or at least it seemed, is what Daryl would be up to in the season ahead — specifically whether, following the death of his brother, he’d seek comfort in Carol’s bed.

“I’m practicing behind the scenes, if you know what I’m talking about,” Reedus said coyly.

The actor gamely obliged his many swooning fans, including one little girl, perhaps 8 or 9 years old, who asked him for a hug. He invited her onstage, where she sat on his lap for the duration of the panel.

But there were some notable non-Daryl moments too.

Producers made two major casting announcements: Josh McDermitt will join the series as Dr. Eugene Porter, while Michael Cudlitz will star as Abraham — both characters who appear in Kirkman’s comic book series. Eugene would be “fully mulleted,” Nicotero promised.

Cudlitz, who’s appeared in “Southland” and “Band of Brothers,” was revealed as the man who would play Abraham after posing as a belligerent audience member demanding to know when the character would join the series.

Gimple, in his NYCC debut as show runner, was tight-lipped about what lay ahead, but suggested the fence would play a pivotal role in Season 4, and that each of the characters onstage would experience a dramatic arc.

“By the end of the season I think you’re going to know all these characters even more,” he said.

The cast, especially Lincoln, was less guarded. He said that a script for an upcoming episode this season rendered him speechless for 10 minutes.

“I was so shell-shocked, I was so disturbed,” he said. “We are going to get in so much trouble with this episode.”

He also hinted that his fictional son Carl is going to get fierce in Episode 9 and that “this season you’re going to see so much extraordinary work from” Melissa McBride as Carol.

Lincoln wasn’t the only one spilling the beans. Hurd teased the audience with two slightly spoiler-y clips, one from Sunday’s Season 4 premiere in which a group led by Daryl and Michonne enter a grocery store where a swarm of walkers — and a crashed helicopter — wait on the roof.

And she closed the session with an even bigger jaw-dropper from a later episode, in which the group drives toward a massive building (the Pentagon? the CDC?) when they run into a horde of walkers the likes of which we haven’t seen since Hershel’s farm.

The little girl did not ask anyone for a hug or a kiss. She wanted to give a friend ship bracelet to the entire cast of the walking dead that she stood up late the night before to make . She is 10 years old from Setauket long island. She didn't even ask for a autograph. My Daughter has a big heart and never asks for something but to give. At ten with a lot of brothers and a sister she never curst in her life. Her bothers made her watch walking dead . Our whole family likes a lot of the Amc shows. Mr Readus asked if she wanted to help him as a helper in the panel and of course she wasn't turning that down. They were all very nice to my girl and she is very grateful for that and will never forget it nor will me and my wife and our whole family. And the audience response was great thank you ,Danny

That is so adorable. I'm melting. Your daughter had such a wonderful experience. Totally jealous though; would have loved to be next to Mr. Reedus. :)
