“Star Wars Rebels” isn’t Disney’s only upcoming animated adventure set in a galaxy far, far away.
This July, the characters of the popular Disney Channel animated series “Phineas and Ferb” will be transported to the universe created by George Lucas in a one-off “Star Wars” special that runs parallel to the original 1977 film, “A New Hope.”
Hero Complex readers can exclusively check out the poster for the one-hour special, which highlights Phineas, Ferb, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Candace and Agent P in their “Star Wars” incarnations.
The poster reveal comes the day before the special,”Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars,” is unveiled for the first time at Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
In the special, Phineas and Ferb are hanging out during a lazy summer on Tatooine. They live on the farm next to the Skywalkers’ and are pulled into the global rebellion when plans for blowing up the Death Star accidentally fall into their hands. As the duo try to get the information to the right people, they are pursued by their sister Candace, who as usual is intent on busting them.
Also on tap for the episode? Darthenshmirtz creates a Sith-inator; Agent P is frozen in carbonite; and Ferb becomes a Sith.
It’s not the first time “Phineas and Ferb” has experimented with the crossover format. Previously, Marvel heroes Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk dropped into Danville for their own adventure.
When the “Star Wars” special was announced at last year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, Dan Povenmire, who created “Phineas and Ferb” with Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, said, “May the Ferb be with you and with all of us who for decades have dreamt of a chance to work with the great characters and stories of ‘Star Wars.'”
No word on whether the special will include new droid Chopper or any of the other characters who will appear on Disney’s upcoming series “Star Wars Rebels.”
