David Tennant gets misty as his Doctor Who runs out of time

Jan. 06, 2010 | 5:48 p.m.

Doctor Who: The Complete Specials” arrives in U.S. retail stores on Feb. 2 with all five specials (“The Next Doctor,” “Planet of the Dead,” “The Waters of Mars” and the just-aired, two-part “The End of Time“) that feature David Tennant as the once and future Time Lord.

It’s an emotional time for Tennant as he leaves behind his signature role, as you can see in this behind-the-scenes footage from the extras on the DVD and Blu-ray boxed set.

Gotta say I started watching Doctor Who because of him. I came in as he picked up Martha Jones. Those two got me hooked! I will miss him. But I am also willing to give the new guy a chance…for a couple of episodes anyway. ;-)

This program has meant so much to me, and will continue to mean a lot to me, I'm quite sure.
I do wish Mr. Tennant–who is of course, a brillant actor, I do wish the gentleman the very best for his professional future…which of course will probably be pretty wonderful.
As for for his 'partners in crime,' (because the new 'Who' was so sinfully good), Mr. Davies, Ms. Gardner and Mr. Collinson–my best wishes and heartfelt thanks to them, as well. Because they brought Dr Who back into my life, at one of the darkest times of my life, and, even though it's just a television program, it gave me something to look forward to, and to grasp on to.
So this 25 year + Whovian does sincerely thank everyone who worked on Who so very much, from the bottom of my heart. And, I do look forward to more adventures with the new Doctor, later this year.

My daughter found Dr. Who this year on BBC America. I watched a few shows with her and became addicted. I think that David Tennet will always be the only and best Dr. Who for us but I will try to give the new Dr. a chance. I would love to see a feature movie with David Tennet as the Dr.
