Look, up in the sky it’s a bird, it’s a plane it’s…an idea.
The super-hero craze in American pop culture shows no sign of relenting just yet and it’s not just at the movie theaters. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, of all venues, is now sponsoring a contest for aspiring comic book writers and illustrators, with the winner promised display on the LACMA website.
As reported in detail over at our sophisticated sister blog, Culture Monster, contestants have until Sept. 15 to send in three to five images of character designs and/or storyboards, plus a one-page synopsis of the plot. The contest is being launched in conjunction with LACMA’s fall exhibition, “Heroes and Villains: The Battle for Good in India’s Comics,” which is tentatively set to open Oct. 17.
