‘Robin Hood’ trailer: ‘Braveheart’ goes to Sherwood Forest?

Feb. 07, 2010 | 9:28 p.m.

I’m a big fan of Ridley Scott – if you don’t like “Blade Runner,” “Alien” and “Gladiator,” well, you and I aren’t going to agree much when it comes to picking a DVD for Friday pizza night. That being said, the filmmaker does leave me scratching my head sometimes (“A Good Year” was unwatchable, “Black Rain” was embarrassing, and “Hannibal” was just nutty). Today during that big football game, there’s a new TV spot for Sir Ridley’s newest film (and his fifth with Russell Crowe), which arrives this summer.

Hmmmm. How does it look to you?

Looks like some good cinematography. I had to play it three times to make out, "That Kings have a need of their subjects." However, "What we ask for… is Liberty," was crystal clear and brought me back to "They may take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM!!" As for reinvention, I think we'll much more enjoy Crowe's Robin Hood than we did Craig's Bond. I'm sure it will surpass "Prince Of Thieves." Well… at least the soundtrack will.

So done with "that"… Just me though…love the guy.

  3. Mike Winder says:

I've become increasingly skeptical about a trailer's ability to catch the true nature of the film it's hyping. Having said that: I'll give Ridley Scott the benefit of the doubt, but this trailer's rotten.

  4. cinnamon barks says:

Naw, looks more like dragging in the Magna Carta. Which did crimp King John's style…

  5. Bridget says:

I agree its not a great trailer but i'll see any film with Cate Blanchett(cannot believe she REPLACED Sienna Miller. How do you not call her first?)

  6. Bawley Benedict says:

"A Good Year" unwatchable? "Black Rain" embarrassing?Okay, "Hannibal" was nutty, but I have to strongly disagree on the other two. Great visuals and strong performances by both casts. Please take another look. Thanks.
