‘Star Trek’: Where no illustrator has gone before

It’s the ‘Star Trek’ premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. It’s disorienting — the red carpet is not red, it’s black, like some starless universe within deep space. Soon though, stars — clustered as well as shooting — will be everywhere, and enthusiastic fans have gathered to honor them. And then there’s me, in the middle of it, spying, and taking notes.
