Here’s a fun bit of eye candy: There’s a new series of posters for sale that promote time travel with the retro sensibility of vintage airline and exotic port-of-call advertising.
They’re the handiwork of Amy Martin, a former colleague of mine here at the Los Angeles Times. She left the journalism business for the lure of product design and, looking at these cool posters, the new gig is great fit.
The posters are a nifty fundraising project for 826LA, a nonprofit writing and tutoring center with locations in Venice and Echo Park. There are five designs. The posters are $19.99 each, but you can get a set of four for $69.99. Pre-ordering is open now; they ship in mid-September.
This is the second series of the posters. The first series (which is also marvelous) raised $30,000 for the programs. Nice. On this new series, Martin collaborated with copywriters Mac Barnett and Jon Korn, so props to them as well.
